Themed Weddings- GO FOR IT!!!

Sorry Mom’s but not all daughters want to get married in the little white chapel in a puffy ball gown and release doves when they say I do. Don’t get me wrong… if this is what you want, then you should go for it! But the traditional weddings have started to get plowed over by the unique sense of character and individuality that each bride is now bringing to their wedding.

We have all seen the “Star Wars” wedding and lets be honest, we all thought WTF?!?! But truth be told themed weddings are becoming bigger and bigger every year, and hey your wedding should represent you and your significant other and if dressing up as a Princess Leia and Han Solo does that for you then… then once again I say GO FOR IT!!!

Not all couples have to go to the extreme when picking a theme. Some couples planning to get married at the beach, might want to incorporate a beach theme throughout their wedding. They would be likely to include such things as sand, shells, island music, and natural beach color tones for the reception.

However if you are looking for a happy medium between the two, something that offers flare but is still elegant… then you may want to look into themes that are more mystical. For example, Alice in Wonderland offers fun and romance. Everyone loves a good crazy tea party. Have your guests wear hats to the reception, your cake can be a little topsy-turvy, have specialty drinks that are served to guests in tea cups with a note attached saying “Drink me” and cup cakes that say “Eat me”. Depending on what kind of “Alice” you are, you can choose to go with big bold bright colors or even go a bit darker with black, white, and throw in just a hint of the Alice baby blue.

If you fancy yourself as more of a “Queen of Hearts”… then play it up with red and black and use the shapes of a deck of cards. Maybe you want a traditional ceremony and a more playful reception, change out of your white gown into a red one for a bold flirtatious statement once you arrive to be greeted by your guests.
